A Decade of Progress

 Introductory

The General Body Meeting of all the Cooperative Urban Banks in the State was held on the 27th July 2002 to organise a State Level Federation to provide a common forum for all the cooperative urban banks to examine the problems of urban credit, short term liquidity crisis, etc. and to encourage self help and mutual assistance.  The members present unanimously elected Sri G. Ramamoorthy as Chairman and authorised him to prepare the bye-laws etc. and to take all steps for formation and registration of the Federation.

Accordingly the first meeting of the Promoters was held on the 11th December 2002 and suitable resolutions which were necessary for registration of the Federation under the Andhra Pradesh State Cooperative Act 1964 were unanimously passed and all the necessary formalities were completed.   The Application and other forms required for registration duly filled in and signed were submitted to the Commissioner for Cooperation and the Registrar of Cooperative Societies on the 20th December 2002.  The Federation was duly registered on the 27th December 2002 under the provisions of Section 6 of APCS Act 1964 (Amended Act 2001).

The Inaugural Function of the Federation was held on the 2nd August 2003 with Sri S. Bhale Rao, I.A.S. and Principal Secretary declaring the inauguration.  The following dignitaries participated and blessed the Federation on the occasion.

  1. Sri D.R. Garg, I.A.S, Commissioner for Cooperation & the Registrar of Cooperative Societies
  2. Sri M. Chandrasekharan, Deputy General Manager, Reserve Bank of India, Hyderabad
  3. Sri K. Narasimha Murthy, Ex-Chairman, Expert Committee on Urban Cooperative Banks.

Elections to the Board of Directors of the Federation were thereafter held and are being regularly conducted all these years in accordance with the Byelaws and Rules etc.  The meetings of the General Body and the Board of Directors are being held periodically as per the Constitution and Byelaws of the Federation.

For effective functioning of the Federation the following Committees were constituted which are functioning systematically.

  1. Business Development Committee
  2. Human Resources Development & Training Programme Committee
  3. Organisation Committee
  4. Audit Advisory Committee
  5. Legal Advisory Committee
  6. Technological Upgradation Committee

Seminars, Conventions, Symposiums, Workshops and Group Discussions are being conducted as and when considered necessary for the benefit of the Executives, Officers and staff of all the Cooperative Urban Banks in the State to make them more proficient in banking and efficient in functioning so that they may run their banks effectively by developing business on profitable lines for the benefit of the local people as well as the Banks themselves..
